Prince Harry & Meghan Markle ‘Achieved’ What They Wanted Before Megxit — Expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly accomplished what they wanted to before Megxit. For those unversed, the Sussexes requested the late Queen Elizabeth if they could opt for a half-in-half-out approach. After the Queen rejected it, the Sussexes officially stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to the U.S. Now, as per a new update, the couple has seemingly cracked a similar formula.

Royal expert comments on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal duties

According to royal expert Jennie Bond, the Palace should have allowed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to continue carrying out royal duties even after Megxit. Despite Queen Elizabeth’s refusal, the Sussexes are carrying out public engagements and tours. Although these are not exactly tied to the royal family, they are strangely similar in nature.

Moreover, Harry is looking forward to making more frequent trips to the UK. As per the former BBC correspondent, the Sussexes have already “achieved” what they set out to do. Not only that, but Bond also batted for the couple. She stated they should have been “allowed” to pursue royal duties regardless of their stance.

The royal expert wrote for The i-Paper: “If we do start seeing him at more charity events over here, as well as conducting his now quite regular visits to Ukraine, perhaps you could argue that he has achieved what he asked for in the first place. Not quite half in and half out – but a way of doing traditional royal engagements even though he’s not part of ‘the firm’. It’s something I think he and Meghan should have been allowed to do in the first place.”

Bond believes that Megxit is a bigger loss to the royal family. According to her, the Sussexes could have been great assets to the firm. The royal expert asserted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex enjoyed immense popularity on the ground level. The royal family could have leveraged that to their benefit, per Bond.

Furthermore, the royal expert is also hopeful that Prince William and Harry keep their differences aside and reconcile to honor Princess Diana for her 30th death anniversary. Notably, the Sussexes met with King Charles and Queen Camilla at the monarch’s private residence, Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, on July 10. The Waleses were reportedly absent from the reunion.
