Biggie Smalls’ Son Claims Grandma’s Will Was Drastically Changed Before Her Death

Voletta Wallace’s estate is facing another court battle after her grandson C.J. Wallace challenged changes made shortly before her death. The dispute could affect who controls key parts of the late Notorious B.I.G.’s legacy. C.J. says the revisions deserve closer scrutiny because of their timing and his grandmother’s health. He is now asking a Pennsylvania court to undo them.

C.J. Wallace is challenging Voletta’s amended will

Christopher Wallace Jr., also known as C.J. Wallace, filed court documents challenging a 2025 codicil to Voletta’s will, TMZ reported. C.J. is the son of Christopher Wallace, better known as the Notorious B.I.G., and Faith Evans.

According to the filing, Voletta signed a will in 2020 that distributed personal property, including jewelry, furs, music awards and a property in Jamaica. C.J. says the 2020 will left most of those items to him and his sister, Ty’anna Wallace.

However, Voletta changed her estate plan on Feb. 6, 2025, 15 days before her death. An official Delaware court opinion confirms that the amendment removed C.J. and longtime friend Carol Sampson as successor trustees. In addition, a codicil removed both as executors, leaving former Biggie manager Wayne Barrow as sole trustee and executor.

C.J. alleges that Voletta’s health had declined and questions whether the signatures on the new documents were consistent. As a result, he wants the court to invalidate the changes and remove Barrow. The court has not yet ruled on those allegations.

Meanwhile, the same estate changes already surfaced in a recent Delaware court fight involving Faith Evans and Notorious B.I.G., LLC. A judge ruled on Aug. 7 that Voletta’s trust remained a member of the company and could receive distributions while the Pennsylvania challenge continues.

For now, Barrow retains authority over Voletta Wallace’s trust and estate. However, C.J.’s Pennsylvania challenge could determine whether that arrangement remains in place.
