Rosie O’Donnell clapped back on social media after Kathy Griffin voiced hurt feelings over the snub

Longtime friend and fellow comedian Kathy Griffin felt “hurt” after O’Donnell did not invite her to Jimmy Kimmel Live! during her guest-hosting stint. O’Donnell is filling in for Jimmy Kimmel while he is on summer vacation.

Speaking on Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off on YouTube, Griffin revealed that despite their close friendship, she had not been invited to the show. “My feelings are really hurt that I was not invited to go on Rosie’s week of the Jimmy Kimmel show,” the comedian said. “Like I said, we’re good pals. We’re like sisters, and everybody knows sisters fight. Sisters and brothers fight. Best friends fight. Relatives, co-workers fight. And we’re not even fighting. I’m just being honest,” she explained.

O’Donnell responded in the comments, writing, “Kathy- shoulda called me honey – I didn’t choose the guests …”

OK! Magazine reported that Griffin revealed O’Donnell had previously told her about being asked to guest-host the show. Griffin thought the opportunity was “fantastic.” She added, “I thought it was a great marketing idea. I thought it was a great idea to begin with. She and Jimmy had had many years of kind of a quasi-beef.”

“I mean, it wasn’t serious, serious, but they’re good now, which makes me very, very happy. We talked about her doing Kimmel a lot. And one of the first things I said was, ‘Well, this doesn’t need to be said, but I would love to be a guest,’” Griffin continued.

Griffin also said she loves Kimmel and O’Donnell “so much” and described them as two of her “oldest friends.”

O’Donnell’s guest list for the show included Hannah Waddingham, Jean Smart, Charlie Day, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally and Sydney James Harcourt.
