Emily Simpson has opened up about the marital challenges she and Shane Simpson have faced.
The “Real Housewives of Orange County” star revealed that the couple once went weeks without speaking.
Emily says she and Shane Simpson were overwhelmed before she made the first move
Emily got candid about their behind-the-scenes life as a married couple during the cast trip to Las Vegas. According to Bravo TV, she reflected on how years of stress and responsibilities had put pressure on their relationship.
Emily spoke to Carmella Garcia and explained that she had to change the way she approached her husband.
“I had to do that with Shane,” Emily said, referring to softening her approach. “Because I was so pissed at him, and I had so much resentment—we hadn’t talked for weeks. It was bad.” She added that their growing family put more pressure on the relationship: “[We were] overwhelmed with kids, and all the things, and then I just made the first move.”
The reality TV personality admitted that her intense personality sometimes made things harder. “I’m always intense. I’ve always been like that,” she told producers. “But I do know that Shane would like it if I showed more gratitude, and initiated more things, and I need to do that more.”
Their children also became a source of tension. In 2025, Emily described how she and Shane handled son Luke’s medical struggles differently. “Shane parents in a very ‘everything will be fine’ kind of way, and I parent in a ‘it’s the end of the world, what are we going to do?’” she said. “So, he tells me that he does that because he’s trying to bridge the gap and bring me down a little, where I find it frustrating because I feel like he’s not taking things as seriously as he should.”
Despite those challenges, Emily revealed that their marriage is stronger than ever.
Emily Simpson joined The Real Housewives of Orange County in Season 13 and has become one of the franchise’s longest-running cast members.
