Carmella Garcia of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” fame has revealed why she and Jeff Garcia are still married despite their split.
The pair married in 2007 but separated in 2020. However, they still remain legally married.
Carmella Garcia says avoiding a custody split with Jeff was more important than divorce
Carmella disclosed the unconventional living arrangement she has with Jeff that allows them not to split custody of their four children on an episode in the 20th season of RHOC.
“Jeff and I don’t have a custody agreement,” the reality star explained. “We share them. And if one of them needs their mom and it’s 11 o’clock at night, I’m going over to Jeff’s, and I’m picking them up. And then we spend, like, the holidays together.”
“You know, in California, it’s like 50/50 custody, and I would have died,” she added during the episode when discussing her relationships. “They were three, four, five, and six, and I was unwilling to lose my children for part of that time. I hated his guts, but then at a certain point you self-sacrifice.”
According to Entertainment Now, Jeff and Carmella share the same house to avoid custody conflicts, which may lead to them splitting time between the kids.
However, this does not mean that the individuals have given up their dating lives. Carmella has spoken earlier of her relationship with a general contractor named Danny. Though the relationship remains private, the WWE professional wrestler has indicated that they have been dating for 10 years.
Jeff lives with his girlfriend in the same house. Contrary to expectations, there is no hard feeling between Carmella and her ex’s girlfriend. In fact, Carmella has revealed that she likes her because “she’s nice to my kids.”
Carmella and Jeff share four children – two daughters, Presley, 18, and Faith, 14, and two sons, Jason, 17, and Jax, 15.
