Juno Temple is opening up about the anxiety that can sometimes send her into a panic. The Ted Lasso star also revealed an unexpected upside to never learning how to drive. Her transportation needs helped put her in the orbit of Michal Szymanski. Years later, the man she met while filming the Apple TV series is now her husband.
Juno Temple discusses anxiety and how she met husband Michal Szymanski while he worked as a driver on Ted Lasso
In a new Vanity Fair interview, Temple admitted that she still does not drive despite living in Los Angeles. She also struggles with punctuality, sleep, and anxiety.
“I definitely have a lot of anxiety and get panicked,” Temple said. She explained that she can get in her own way and sometimes disappear down mental “wormholes.”
However, her need for a driver also connects to one of the biggest changes in her personal life. Vanity Fair asked whether she met her husband while he worked as her driver during Season 2 of Ted Lasso. Temple replied, “I did. Yeah.”
The story of Juno Temple’s husband has another sweet layer. Szymanski worked as a driver for Temple’s co-star Hannah Waddingham during production. Eventually, Temple asked Waddingham whether she could pursue him romantically.
Waddingham happily approved. She and Szymanski even developed a secret code that helped Temple meet him when Waddingham’s schedule conveniently “ran over.” The couple’s unusual beginning was recently detailed in a behind-the-scenes Ted Lasso romance story.
Temple and Michal Szymanski met while filming Season 2 in 2021. They later made their red carpet debut in 2022.
Earlier this month, Temple confirmed that they had quietly married sometime within the past two years. She also revealed that they bought a home together.
Meanwhile, Temple credits Ted Lasso with transforming much more than her career. She told Vanity Fair the show became a “gateway” to many parts of her current life.
That includes new roles, close friendships, and, unexpectedly, the relationship that led her to her husband.
