Orlando Bloom’s new thriller with Priyanka Chopra Jonas has hit a possible production problem. Reports say Bloom may have left the movie Reset just before filming. Another source claims the issue stemmed from a script change and a director change. The film could now move production to next year.

A Page Six source said Bloom’s reported exit left the production scrambling before filming. However, another source said the actor’s situation was a domino effect following the departure of the original director. “The director was replaced too close to the start of production,” the insider said. The source also pointed to ongoing script changes.
The insider said the team did not have enough time to confidently shoot the film. According to the source, the production may push filming to next year. Deadline first announced the movie in May. The report indicated that Matt Smukler would direct and that production would start in August.
IMDb listed James Madigan as the director on Tuesday. Madigan previously worked on visual effects for Iron Man 2 and The Da Vinci Code. Another production source said the filmmakers now have to figure out what to do. The team must also consider whether it can recast Bloom’s role without creating more problems.
TMZ reported Tuesday that Bloom had dropped out at the last minute. His departure left a void that had to be filled, the report said. Three actors reportedly remain in the running for the part. Reps for Bloom and Chopra Jonas, along with a producer from Fratricidal Films, have received requests for comment.
When the film first took shape, Smukler praised the casting of Chopra Jonas and Bloom. “I was looking for a pairing where attraction and mistrust could effortlessly coexist,” he said. Smukler added that their chemistry was “undeniable.” Bloom has also made an appearance in the 2024 movie The Cut and is set to appear in Wizards and Bucking Fastard.
