Bravo’s number one chaos agent is coming back to our screens this fall, and not everyone is sold on the idea. Still Flipping Out with Jeff Lewis premieres on September 28, and with that comes all of Jeff’s baggage. Trust, there’s plenty.
The real estate guru-turned-radio personality is known for his brash behavior and public feuds just as much as he is for his design work. At the last BravoCon, for example, he made headlines for feuding with Andy Cohen after a painfully awkward on-stage panel, where he also made classist remarks about Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Monica Garcia. Classy, right?
At this point, it’s well-known that this man is a ticking time bomb for controversy. So is Bravo making the right call by platforming him — again? Does his brand of reality TV even work in 2026? Unfortunately, yes and yes.
The Jeff Lewis Still Flipping Out trailer divided fans
Jeff has been teasing a Flipping Out reboot since 2024. We finally got our first look at the series this week. It shows Jeff, his long-suffering staffers, and his merry band of “Chumps” as the cameras bounce between his design business and his daily chat show on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy.
The trailer was littered with celebrity cameos, including comedian Kym Whitley and familiar Bravo faces like Meredith Marks and Crystal Kung Minkoff. You won’t find anything too out of the ordinary or scandalous in this sneak peek. Still, the three-minute clip earned some big reactions on social media, and they were split down the middle.
Jeff’s loyal listeners are excited to see him back on their screens, but for every Chump, there’s a highly skeptical Bravo fan. On Instagram, one person wrote, “I will go out of my way to avoid this show,” which was immediately followed by someone writing, “Now THIS is the reboot we want!”
The response on X, formerly Twitter, was equally as divided. Some fans applauded the return of the Flipping Out universe. Others dropped eyeroll emojis and begged for The Real Housewives of Miami to return instead.
Jeff’s presence on any TV show is guaranteed to pull a polarizing response, and that’s exactly what made Flipping Out so compelling in the first place. In part, it’s also what got it cancelled.
Last time Jeff Lewis flipped out, it cost him his Bravo show
Throughout the course of Flipping Out, Jeff became known as the kind of nightmare boss you didn’t want to work for but somehow couldn’t stop watching. He fired employees like it was nothing, literally flipping out when things didn’t go as planned.
But Jeff’s biggest flip-out happened when he and his longtime executive assistant, Jenni Pulos, suffered a major falling out during Season 11. He booted her out of Jeff Lewis Design, and their relationship was broken beyond repair. Bravo cancelled the show shortly after.
Years later, Jeff blamed the cancellation on network execs who didn’t believe he could carry the show without Jenni.
“It wasn’t that there was low ratings or people lost interest. It was the Bravo executives that thought the show couldn’t go on without [Jenni],” Jeff revealed last year on Vicki Gunvalson’s podcast.
Now, eight years later, Jeff is getting another shot at carrying his own show. And based on what we’ve seen in the trailer and what we know transpires throughout the season, it doesn’t sound like much has changed since we last checked in with him, other than some dissolved lip filler and a new SiriusXM contract.
He’s still going to be flipping out. He’s still going to treat his employees like trash, and people are still going to have big opinions about the behavior. They always do, and that’s exactly what Bravo needs right now.
Bravo needs a villain like Jeff Lewis
Bravo is at its best when someone is behaving badly. And we’re not talking about hooking up with someone in the friend group and lying about it on TV. We’re talking classic, reality TV villainy.
The Bravoverse thrives off of slightly lovable characters showcasing their rancid behavior. These days, those are hard to come by.
The current era of reality TV feels vanilla because no one wants to have an edge. Most villains get cancelled by fans before they even have a chance to shake the table. Everyone is too aware of the audience and afraid of backlash. Jeff doesn’t care, and he’s been proving that for years.
He’s going to give us a hot take that no one asked for. He’s going to fire people and make himself look like an asshole. And he’s going to do it unapologetically, because that’s who he is. We should be grateful for a reality star that isn’t going to bore us to death.
So yes, Jeff is bringing a lot of baggage and a big potential for controversy, but that’s the messy energy we need. It’s why we always come back to reality TV: morally questionable, imperfect nightmares like Jeff. Bravo knows exactly what they’re betting on here, and it seems like it’s going to pay off.
