Dick Van Dyke, the legendary Mary Poppins and The Dick Van Dyke Show star, is proving that age is no barrier to staying active. At 100, the actor recently shared a video of himself exercising on an inversion table, leaving fans both amazed and concerned.
Fans rallied around Dick Van Dyke’s unbelievable fitness video after a heartbreaking week of iconic losses
In the clip he shared on Instagram, Van Dyke is seen lying on the workout machine with his arms behind his head and his legs raised. His impressive flexibility quickly caught the attention of fans.
One jokingly urged the 100-year-old star to stop and head indoors, writing in the comments, “I’m torn between telling him to keep it up and telling him to go inside because it’s not safe right now ???.” While another admired his dedication, wrote, “Ok, it’s official: the rest of us have absolutely no excuse to not be exercising!!! ?.”
The moment feels even more meaningful as fans recently mourned iconic stars, Dolly Parton and Tim Curry. Against that backdrop, Van Dyke’s determination to keep moving at the age of 100 is especially inspiring. It offers a reminder of his remarkable longevity and his desire to make the most of life.
Van Dyke has long credited exercise for helping him stay active. He told Ted Danson in January 2025, “I’ve always exercised three days a week.” He added, “[My wife and I] go to the gym still, and I think that’s why I’m not stove up like my equals.”
His commitment has impressed fellow stars as well. In September 2025, rocker Rick Springfield recalled finding the then-99-year-old actor working out at a gym.
Springfield wrote on Instagram about a gym experience during the shooting of an episode of Men’s Health. He wrote, “Who should be there but 99-year-old Dick Van Dyke working out on every machine.” He added, “I thought I was doing well at 76, but Dick got up from the chest press machine and did a little dance step before I left! ❤️ Amazing!”
Despite his dedication, Van Dyke has acknowledged that staying mobile has become more difficult. “I miss movement. I’ve got one game leg from I don’t know what,” he said in December 2025. He also added, “I still try to dance.”
Dick Van Dyke turned 100 years old on December 13, 2025. Even at this age, Van Dyke isn’t ready to slow down. “A hundred years is not enough. You want to live more, which I plan to,” he concluded.
