Speaking about her political career, she referred to the 84-year-old senator while explaining that she never wanted to hold onto political power indefinitely. The comment came as Greene discussed her falling-out with Donald Trump and her reasons for not wanting to remain on Capitol Hill for a full career.

Marjorie Taylor Greene took a pointed swipe at Mitch McConnell while explaining why she decided against pursuing a long political career in Washington. She remarked while discussing her public falling-out with Donald Trump and defending herself against his accusation that she was a “traitor.”
During her August 29 appearance on The Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, Greene addressed Trump’s criticism of her opposition to several of his policies. She said, “Yeah, he means a traitor to him. So, the president demands loyalty, but my loyalty does not belong to Donald Trump.” She also said Trump’s comments did not affect her, adding, “It did not hurt me one single bit.” According to Greene, people have continued to thank her publicly for speaking out.
While explaining her decision to leave Washington, Greene turned her attention to McConnell, the Kentucky senator. She said, “And I never went to Washington to cling the power until I’m dead or alive, like Mitch McConnell. We don’t even know!” Greene then clarified that she had never planned to remain on Capitol Hill for her entire career. “I only wanted to make a difference,” she added.
Greene was previously a strong supporter of Trump, but their relationship deteriorated after disagreements over several issues. Her push to release the Jeffrey Epstein files became one of the major points of conflict between them, eventually leading to her resignation from Congress.
