Kate Hudson’s Completely Sheer Dress Looks Like Beach Cover-up

Kate Hudson’s latest red carpet appearance in Berlin is making waves, though not for the reasons one would expect from an A-list premiere. While attending the debut of her new movie, “Song Sung Blue,” the actress opted for a sheer cobalt dress that drew more comparisons to resort wear than traditional Hollywood glamor.

Kate Hudson’s sheer dress and bra combo isn’t red carpet worthy

Kate Hudson arrived at Zoo Palast cinema alongside co-star Hugh Jackman for the premiere of “Song Sung Blue” in a dramatic sheer dress and a very basic bra. The Vera Wang design, rendered in a vivid cobalt blue, featured long puffy sleeves, a sweeping mini train, and a deep V-neckline that plunged toward a ruched waist. While the color was universally flattering and camera-ready, the styling underneath quickly became the focal point, and not necessarily in her favor.

Rather than traditional red carpet foundations, Hudson paired the delicate chiffon with a minimalist black triangle bra and silky blue shorts. The combination created a look closer to high-end resort wear than an outfit for a movie premiere. The visible bra, in particular, contrasted sharply against the airy fabric. Meanwhile, the shorts, which were more reminiscent of swimwear or lounge pieces, gave the ensemble an unexpectedly casual tone.

From a fashion perspective, Hudson’s dress had the bones of a standout premiere moment. It had a daring silhouette, intentional draping, and a dramatic open cowl back. Nonetheless, the styling choices underneath tipped the balance from ethereal to beachy. They offered a relaxed vibe that didn’t quite match the event’s formal ambiance.

Her accessories, however, were undeniably on point. Hudson elevated the look with black strappy heels that added height without distracting from the gown’s bold color. She wore statement diamond earrings by Nikos Koulis, which brought a welcome touch of red carpet bling. A sleek low bun kept the focus on the dress’s bold neckline and her glowing complexion.

There’s no question Hudson can carry a bold fashion statement, and the cobalt hue was undeniably stunning on her. However, the sheer dress and basic bra pairing felt more like beachwear reimagined than a fully realized red carpet ensemble. Even so, if the aim was to spark conversation, she certainly achieved it.
