Morning show host Kelly Ripa was censored for swearing on live TV while talking about a Christmas Eve request she has for husband and fellow cohost Nick Consuelos. During an interview with comedian Sebastian Maniscalco on Friday, November 21, the daytime TV host for Live With Kelly & Mark went into what her husband does (or doesn’t do) when it comes to his holiday duties. And her frustration led to a bit of slip-up during the live broadcast of the popular ABC show.
Ripa censored while describing her Christmas Eve request for Nick Consuelos
In the segment, Kelly Ripa began describing her husband’s trash duties during Christmas while talking with Maniscalco about their holiday memories.
“The trash bag comes out. He’s like the Grinch who’s stealing Christmas as Christmas is unfolding,” Ripa said about Consuelos. “He doesn’t do it the night before, he does it while we’re having Christmas.” Her husband clarified that he hides a bag where all of the discarded paper goes after all the presents are unwrapped.
When the comedian complimented Consuelos on how prepared and presentable he looks, seemingly all of the time, the couple rebuffed the praise. Ripa confessed that her husband doesn’t look put together until the night of Christmas Eve, for which she has made something specific for him to wear.
She said, “I usually get everybody pajamas [that are] monogrammed for the night before, so you come out in the pajamas.” This prompted Maniscalco to ask whether Consuelos wears them to bed.
“No. Christmas Eve. He wears them once a year for me,” she responded. “Once a year, I’m like, look, I don’t ask for much, you’ve done nothing for this holiday, you’ve contributed nothing, you’ve purchased nothing, you’ve baked nothing, you’ve set nothing up. Put on the [censored] PJs!”
The censors placed an oval over her mouth and bleeped out the curse word she used, though the audience could be heard clapping while Consuelos laughed at the story.
As for what happens after he wears the PJs, Maniscalco joked that it’s probably “a happy time.”
