Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande had a ‘passionate’ kiss in Wicked: For Good
During her interview with Deadline, Dana Fox, one of the co-writers on Wicked: For Good, revealed that the writers decided to cut a kissing scene from the film. She shared this detail after the interviewer asked her if there was a scene cut from the final version that she wished to keep in the film. Fox answered, saying, “I don’t think there’s anything that I wish we hadn’t cut… Because everything we cut, I felt we cut for exactly the right reasons.”
Mentioning the kissing scene, she said, “Perhaps, there is a scene that I don’t know if it will be included. There was a scene between Fiyero and Glinda that we cut in which they kissed. It was romantic and beautiful, but a little too passionate.” She then explained how the scene made it very hard to watch Prince Fiyero make the choice of being with Elphaba later. Moreover, she discussed the challenge pf making Elphaba okay with running away with him. “It was too real that he and Glinda were actually feeling something together,” she added.
She shared that the kiss “was like a feeling that he really did love her.” She went on to explain that Fiyero likes Glinda in a different way. “So, I think it was a good cut… Because it was too adorable that you simply couldn’t handle it,” she finally added.
