Travis Kelce silenced retirement speculations with a jaw-dropping performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end proved that he’s still got it at 36. Kelce’s unmatchable energy on the field had an NFL alum doubtful about the star player bowing out anytime soon.
Chase Daniel has questions about Travis Kelce’s future retirement
The Kansas City Chiefs’ latest loss against the Dallas Cowboys (31-28) on Thanksgiving added to the looming uncertainty surrounding Travis Kelce’s future. However, recent retirement speculations are mostly positive after the star footballer put on a stellar performance, leaving fans and the entire football fraternity in awe.
Travis’s brilliant touchdown in the latest Chiefs vs Cowboys game had Super Bowl champion Chase Daniel doubting his retirement plans. Daniel believes that Kelce has more fuel in the tank and expressed the same in his recent X (formerly Twitter) post.
“Travis Kelce is not slowing down… makes me wonder if he’s going to play another year,” Daniel wrote.
Chiefs reporter Pete Sweeney seems to mirror the ex-NFL player’s opinion. “I think we all came into this season thinking that this would for sure be Travis Kelce’s last season, but he’s been playing like he has year(s) left,” Sweeney’s X post read.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February 2025 gave rise to Travis Kelce’s retirement rumors. After a disappointing 2024 season, with career lows in receptions (97), receiving yards (823), and touchdowns (3), Kelce himself admitted that he’s considering retirement.
Speaking about his retirement, Kelce informed ESPN that he plans to give the Chiefs clarity on his future before the offseason. The star player said he’d announce his decision before draft picks and free agency. Additionally, he cited his brother Jason’s smooth exit as a model, expressing that he wants to do the same.
“You know, seeing my brother go through it … I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity to know whether I come back or not. I’d like to make that decision before they’ve got to get draft picks and free agency opens up”, the star TE said.
