McBee Dynasty’s Steve McBee Sr. Wants Presidential Pardon

Steve McBee Sr. appears on McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, where viewers watch him and his family run a large Missouri ranch. Plenty of drama has played out along the way – FBI investigation included.

Off camera, things came to a head. Steve pleaded guilty to a federal crop insurance fraud charge after the investigation wrapped up, and a judge sentenced him to 24 months in October. He reported to the Yankton federal prison on December 1, a date that has already complicated his son Cole McBee’s wedding plans with his fiancée, Kacie Adkison.

Now that he has started serving his time, Steve is hunting for any option that might cut his sentence, including help from President Donald Trump.

Steve recently told PEOPLE he plans to ask President Trump for a pardon. He said, “I’ve been meeting with pardon attorneys. We’re putting everything together to fill out the application and turn everything in. It’s a long, drawn-out, extensive process. I’m very hopeful that the pardon could take place based on the details of the situation.” He also said he feels “privileged” to even consider this route.

Steve has also been talking with Todd Chrisley. He and his wife, Julie Chrisley, starred on the reality show Chrisley Knows Best. Todd and Julie also have their own familiarity with the consequences of white-collar crime.

They were convicted of fraud and tax offenses in 2022 and later received full presidential pardons in May. Their experience has helped Steve understand what comes next. “It was a blessing that [our McBee Dynasty producer] knew them and that we were able to connect,” he said.

Todd has stayed involved while Steve navigates the early steps. Steve said, “So many people out there don’t have anybody to help them, and Todd really picked up that torch.” He hopes he can eventually do the same for someone else when his situation settles. “I will absolutely find that avenue to help other people when I’m done with my situation.”

Steve is also exploring options under the First Step Act, which could shave time off his sentence and improve his chances of being home for Cole and Kacie’s wedding. “When I’m out, we’re going to have a big wedding,” he said. The family may push the date to spring if his return takes longer.

Even with prison life settling in, Steve is trying to stay optimistic. “Obviously, we hope for the best and pray for the best, but the storm is finally clearing,” he said. He called the whole mess a “level five hurricane,” and says he might finally be seeing a calmer stretch ahead.
