Sydney Sweeney spoke with Entertainment Tonight at the New York City premiere of her new movie, The Housemaid, on Tuesday, December 2. During the brief interview, she opened up about her recent Shrek-themed Thanksgiving party, sharing how she came up with the idea.

“I really love bringing everybody together, and I wanted to throw a Friendsgiving,” Sweeney shared. “But I like a theme. I always have to do a theme,” she confessed, before discussing why she chose Shrek.

“I was like, ‘What’s something that everybody can embrace their fun, childlike side?’ And everybody loves Shrek. It’s the best!” the 28-year-old revealed. “So I invited all my neighbors, we had like a block party,” she added.

The Euphoria star went on to gush about her pals, saying, “My neighbors and my friends are the coolest. Because they showed up…they came in full costume, and it was a really fun time.”

Sweeney shared photos from the glamorous party in an Instagram carousel on November 30. The gallery featured the actress dressed as Dragon from the Shrek film series, wearing a red leotard adorned with red scales, a pair of wings, and a pointy tail. She completed the look with a matching horned headband and gloves.

The actress’s friends rocked up to the party dressed as other notable characters from the franchise, including the titular ogre Shrek, Princess Fiona, Lord Farquaad, and Donkey.

Meanwhile, Sydney Sweeney is gearing up for her big-screen return with the upcoming psychological thriller, The Housemaid. Directed by Paul Feig, the movie is based on the 2022 bestselling novel of the same name by Freida McFadden. Its stars are Sweeney, along with Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins.

The Housemaid comes out in theaters on December 19, 2025.
