Kate Middleton recently stepped out with Prince William, sporting a shiny accessory. The couple attended a state banquet at Windsor Castle to welcome German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. And the Princess of Wales wore a special tiara for the first time.
This has been a big year for Kate. Prince William and Kate recently moved. The royal couple, along with their three children, are still based at Windsor, but have moved into Forest Lodge. The family will not have any live-in help, with their housekeepers and the children’s nanny residing at smaller nearby properties. Both Prince William and Kate apparently value their private family time.

PEOPLE reported that Kate wore Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet Tiara. Kate also wore a glittering, bright blue dress designed by Jenny Packham. This is the fifth tiara that Kate has worn.
The tiara was created in 1853 by Prince Albert for his wife, Queen Victoria, according to Garard. Meanwhile, Kate may have chosen this particular tiara for a special reason. Since Prince Albert was also from Germany, wearing this tiara was a way to honor their guests.
Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet Tiara has 2,600 diamonds. While it originally featured opals, Queen Alexandria later swapped out the gems for rubies. This gorgeous tiara was also worn by both the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth. However, Queen Elizabeth only wore it once, during a trip to Malta. The tiara hadn’t been worn since that trip in 2005 until Kate selected it for the German banquet.
The banquet, which had a white-tie dress code, also featured a royal procession. Recently, Kate’s role in the monarchy has become more high-profile since she represented the royal family at the Remembrance Day Service in November 2025. She is truly preparing for her future role as a Queen and a modern partner to her husband, Prince William.
