Noah Schnapp is used to fans recognizing him for his role as Will Byers on Stranger Things. However, lately, especially after the release of Season 5, they are associating him with a completely different franchise. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on December 3, the actor revealed that he is increasingly being mistaken for none other than Harry Potter himself.
Noah Schnapp says people who approach him believe that he’s Harry Potter
Talking about how intense it can be when the Stranger Things cast goes out together, Noah Schnapp told Jimmy Fallon that things get a little strange even when he’s by himself. “When we’re all together, it’s kind of insanity,” he said, before adding that solo outings come with their own surprise. “But I will say, actually, when I’m alone, I’ve been getting Harry Potter the past few years. It happened three times last year, which has never happened to me before.”
Fallon clarified what he meant, asking, “People think you’re Harry Potter?” To this, Schnapp replied affirmatively. He explained that fans will walk up to him, convinced he’s the wizard played by Daniel Radcliffe.
The Stranger Things star said, “They’ll come up to me, and they’ll be like, ‘I love your show. Thank you.’ And I’m like, ‘Thank you so much. I appreciate the support.’ And then they’re like, ‘I adore Harry Potter. I love the character.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, wrong franchise.’”
They then drew parallels between the two universes. Schnapp claimed that “The Boy Who Lived” from Harry Potter and his “Zombie Boy” from Stranger Things are quite similar. Both of them feature a close-knit group of kids, dark forces, and a reluctant hero at the center.
Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 is now streaming on Netflix, with Volume 2 and the finale set to release on December 25 and December 31, respectively.
