Travis Kelce’s Retirement Rumors Fuel After Chiefs vs Texans Errors

Travis Kelce sparked retirement rumors with his underwhelming performance in the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans game on Sunday. Fans are now wondering whether the tight end will soon bid farewell to the sport.

Travis Kelce’s mistakes during the Chiefs-Texans game fuels retirement rumors

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a devastating 20-10 loss in the Sunday matchup against the Houston Texans. All eyes were on Travis Kelce as he made two critical fumbles in the second half of the game. The Chiefs’ tight end failed to catch two passes from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, with the second mishandle returning possession to the Texans.

Needless to say, Kelce’s mistakes cost the Chiefs some much-needed points before the clock ran down to zero. The errors have now once again fuelled rumors that the tight end might be hanging up his cleats in the near future.

Travis Kelce has already shared his thoughts on retirement, confirming that he won’t be making any official announcement before the end of the 2025 NFL season. Meanwhile, his $34.25 million contract for two years expires at the end of the season, and he has yet to confirm an extension.

Kelce has previously discussed the prospect of retirement during a November 21 press conference. Speaking with the reporters, the Chiefs star shared when he might make a final decision.

“Seeing my brother go through it and seeing – I don’t know, how the league works. The season kind of restarts in April. I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity, whether I come back or not, and vice versa,” Kelce shared.

“It’s one of those things where I’d like to make that decision before they have draft picks and free agency opens and give them an opportunity to go out there and fill the roster appropriately,” the tight end added. In conclusion, Kelce firmly stated, “All of that will be after the season. I won’t be thinking about it until then.”
