Even in death, Rob Reiner is getting no sympathy from Donald Trump. The US President took to social media to attack the famed Hollywood director who died on Sunday.
Donald began by calling the death very sad before going on the offensive against the Academy Award nominee. Among other things, he says the Princess Bride director suffered from the crippling disease he called “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” Rob had previously spoken out against the President, including a fiery interview just two months before his death. Among the things he said was that the country was sliding downhill very quickly with Donald back in power. The President evidently hasn’t forgotten Rob’s words.
Donald Trump said Rob Reiner “drove people CRAZY”
While Hollywood mourns Rob’s loss, the President seems to be using the tragedy to fire back at him. On Truth Social, Donald claimed that “He (Rob) was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump.”
Rob and his wife, Michele, were found dead at their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon, with authorities claiming they had both suffered fatal stab wounds. The couple had three kids together, and their only daughter, Romy, discovered their dead bodies. Their son Nick has been arrested and is being held on a $4 million bail.
Nick has talked openly in the past about his drug addiction, which led to him previously being homeless.
The President called Rob’s words against him and his administration “obvious paranoia.” In September, Rob’s last directorial credit, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, came out in theatres, earning just over $3 million at the box office. He also reprised his role as Marti DeBergi in that film. Rob had also appeared in three episodes of The Bear. There have been plenty of tributes from Hollywood stars following news of Rob’s death.
Rob and Michele’s official cause of death has yet to be determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
