During the conversation, Paltrow revealed that she tries to avoid reading things about herself, which shocked Lopez, who cross-questioned her and shared her own thoughts on the matter.

During the Los Angeles Times’ The Envelope 2025 Oscar Actresses Roundtable, Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow shared how they tackle online negativity and the reception to their professional work. Paltrow revealed that she tries to avoid reading anything about herself and completely ignores it. To this, Lopez questions, “Wait, not anything about yourself? Ever? Period?”

Sharing her own experience, the “On the Floor” singer said, “Because I don’t read reviews of my films either, but people will bring it to you it when it’s good and you’re like, ‘Oh, nice.’ But there’s other things they’ll bring you….” Paltrow then mentioned that there are times when she comes across the bad stuff. To this, Lopez jokingly replies, “And you want to die.” Agreeing to her sentiments, Paltrow further added, “Like when someone forwards you a link to something really horrible about yourself, and they’re like, ‘Oh, this is bulls—.’ I do try to avoid [that kind of stuff]. I deleted Instagram.”

Emily Blunt agreed with Paltrow’s perspective, as did Lopez, who added, “You need to cleanse every once in a while.” While Sweeney appreciated their approach, she admitted that she can’t do it herself.

Paltrow and Ben Affleck were in an on-and-off relationship from the late 1990s to 2000. Meanwhile, Affleck and Lopez met in 2002 but called off their engagement in 2004. They reconciled in 2021 and tied the knot in the following year. Earlier this year, their divorce was finalized.
