Noah Schnapp Gets Real About Will’s Sexuality on Stranger Things

Noah Schnapp is opening up about his well-known character on Stranger Things. The New York-born actor plays Will Byers in the hit series. In Season Four, his character expressed feelings for Mike, a role played by Finn Wolfhard. In that season, he discussed feeling like a mistake at times because of these feelings and his sexual identity.

Noah recently talked about what it meant for him to portray such a character. It’s a character he can relate to very closely in his personal life.

Noah recently talked about his tackling Will’s sexual reval. On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the actor gave his reaction. “It was an honor. I think it’s so important on our show to have that kind of representation,” said Noah.

Noah is openly gay, sharing the news with everybody in a TikTok video in 2023. When coming out of the closet, he shared that he’s closer to Will than he thought. He told Andy that he’s happy to show audiences that “it’s okay and it’s incredible and I’m so proud to play a character that makes that okay for so many people.”

He’s earned his share of praise and award nominations for his depiction of Will on the show. At the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, he was named the Male TV Star of the Year for 2022.

Filming of the show’s final season has concluded, and according to Noah, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room after wrapping. The first four episodes of Season Five came out in late November. Three more episodes will be released on Netflix on Christmas Day, with the show concluding on New Year’s Eve.
