In case you’ve (somehow) managed to miss it, Stranger Things is coming to an end this month. Unsurprisingly for one of Netflix’s biggest shows, there’s been plenty of speculation about how things might wrap up. But one fan theory – that there may be a secret edit – has already been refuted by a cast member.
Randy Havens denies rumors of an extended Stranger Things Season 5
The latest batch of Stranger Things episodes hasn’t exactly been a unanimous hit with fans. In fact, it’s received pretty mixed reviews, with some calling it out for unnecessary exposition and weird character decisions.
Given the lackluster response, a theory gained traction online that key scenes may have been cut, thus resulting in episodes that some felt weren’t fully fleshed out or failed to further the story.
But Randy Havens, who plays Mr. Clarke in the show, has revealed that’s not the case. Writing on Instagram, he revealed: “There’s no secret Snyder cut of the show. People don’t believe everything some random ass tells you on the internet.” His comment refers to director Zack Snyder‘s original cut of Justice League, which was eventually released following backlash from fans over the cinematic edit.
One thing fans will probably be glad about is the character survival rate. According to creators Matt and Ross Duffy, the ending is likely to be pretty tame on that front. Matt told Variety earlier this year: “I’ve said this before: The show is not Game of Thrones. I’m hoping [the finale] surprises people.”
The final episode of the show is set to air on Netflix on December 31.
A special cast event was held earlier this month to commemorate the show’s impending end. David Harbour missed it, though, amid reports of erratic behavior.
