After Stranger Things wrapped its fifth and final season in December 2025, Millie Bobby Brown has now opened up about the toll the finale took on her mental health. The 22-year-old Emmy-nominated actress said it left her feeling uncertain and vulnerable around her co-stars.
Millie Bobby Brown discusses how she had honest conversations with her Stranger Things costars after the Netflix series finale
Brown spoke about the experience during the June 24 live recording of the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz. She said, as per Variety, “I went into a little bit of a slight, slight depression,” adding, “It was very hard for me. I would not have expected that coming off the show. I’m a very happy-go-lucky person.”
Brown revealed that she spent January reconnecting with her Stranger Things co-stars Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and Joe Keery to “mend” any unresolved issues between them. “They probably thought I was crazy. I was like, ‘We’re still friends, right? Like, you’re not gonna stop talking to me anymore?’ I was like, ‘I’m sorry if I ever upset you,’ and was just trying to mend anything. ‘It’s been 10 years, and I really want to be friends. You’re my sibling.’”
Speaking about her character Eleven, she continued, “And no one will ever understand it. I started the show when I was 10, and this character was me, and these people were in my life more than my own family.” She said saying goodbye after 10 years was “very, very emotional,” and that she would miss Eleven more than anything.
According to Deadline, following Stranger Things, Brown returned to Netflix with the third Enola Holmes installment, set to premiere on July 1. She also has multiple upcoming projects, including Just Picture It and Nineteen Steps, based on her debut novel.
