With Prince William becoming the next monarch, reports were doing the rounds that he could strip Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, of their royal titles. But it seems the Duke of Sussex is okay about losing his royal title. The same can’t be said for the Duchess of Sussex, as a source says, she “thrives on the royal recognition.”
Prince Harry is ‘comfortable’ without a royal title, claims source
With Prince William next in line for the crown, it was reported that he might strip his younger brother and his wife, Meghan Markle, of royal titles. It seems this might not affect the Duke of Sussex, as a source says he is fine without a royal title.
During last week’s visit to the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship in Aspen, Colorado, the Duke kept a low profile and even introduced himself without any royal title. “Harry was introduced as Harry Wales, with no royal title mentioned ever or anywhere,” an insider exclusively told Rob Shutter.
As per the source, the father of two wanted no protocol, and even photographers were kept at a distance. Harry “was there to play polo with his best friend Nacho—no titles, just fun.”
The insider further revealed that the Duke “looked genuinely happy, like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.” He spent the entire day laughing and talking with his friend. The throne and the title apparently no longer matter to him.
“The Sussex brand is now worthless, and taking the titles away would make William look petty,” a source said. “Harry doesn’t care about the trappings anymore. He’s done with it.”
However, the same can’t be said for his wife, Meghan Markle, who is said to enjoy her royal status. She stated on her Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan,” telling Mindy Kaling, “You know I’m Sussex now.”
Looking at her reaction, the source expressed that the former actor “thrives on the royal recognition—it’s everything to her.” Sharing the same insight, a close friend also said that Harry is “finally free. Meghan’s still chasing the shine that’s long gone.”
