We’ve just got our first look at the final season of Queer Eye. Netflix’s Emmy-award-winning makeover show is coming to an end after Season 10, but the Fab Five are going out in style. The new episodes drop later this month, and if history tells us anything, you’ll want to keep the tissues close for this emotional farewell.
Netflix dropped a first look photo ahead of Queer Eye Season 10
Netflix announced last summer that Queer Eye would conclude with its 10th season. For their final chapter, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and newbie Jeremiah Brent ventured to Washington, D.C., to deliver one last round of life-changing makeovers.
The newly released first-look image shows the crew strutting through a D.C. crosswalk painted with the Progress Pride flag. It’s a striking image, especially amid the ongoing political efforts to have such crosswalks removed. It’s a reminder that ten seasons later, a show like this is still necessary.
That said, the final season does arrive under a little cloud of controversy. The show has been tainted by ongoing headlines about the Fab Five. It all started when JVN got called out for being a nightmare on set — a polar opposite of the cheery persona fansgrew to love.
Plus, rumors of infighting among the Fab Five have been swirling ever since Bobby Berk’s sudden departure after Season 8. With that in mind, it was probably just a big, shady coincidence that the day after Netflix announced Queer Eye’s cancellation, Bobby revealed that he had a new show coming out on HGTV.
Still, the door might not be fully closed on any of these folks. JVN just hinted that Season 10 might not fully be the end of Queer Eye. Underneath his latest Instagram post about Season 10, he shared a comment with fans suggesting that there could still be more to come.
“The final season of @QueerEye is out on January 21st,” he wrote. “Last season in this form at least…”
