Sydney Sweeney sported American Eagle jeans in a recent social media post. She posted a series of photos from her winter adventures, tagging the clothing brand in the caption. The Instagram post attracted significant attention, following the controversy in July 2025, when the brand faced accusations of promoting ideas tied to racism and genetic superiority.
Sydney Sweeney spotted wearing American Eagle jeans
The Euphoria actress took to Instagram to share a carousel of images from her latest winter trip. Her photos included her posing with Santa, admiring the northern lights, skiing, enjoying snowy adventures, standing in front of a Christmas tree, and much more. The caption of the post read, “some fave winter fits from my trip ft @americaneagle #aepartner #aejeans.”
The post comes shortly after her response to the controversy last month. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Sweeney revealed that she was “surprised” by the backlash she received for the American Eagle campaign. She clarified that she signed up for doing the ad because she loves the brand and its jeans; she had no intention of conveying the ideas that people have connected the ad to.
She explained, “I don’t support the views some people chose to connect to the campaign. Many have assigned motives and labels to me that just aren’t true.” Initially, she thought that it was best not to respond to the backlash and remained silent. However, now, she has realized that her silence has only “widened the divide,” which she didn’t want to happen, so she decided to make her stance clear. She added, “So I hope this new year brings more focus on what connects us instead of what divides us.”
Furthermore, she was asked about the reactions to the campaign in a GQ interview in November 2025. However, she didn’t delve into the topic but just revealed that she was surprised by the reactions and expressed her love for jeans. She said, “I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”
