Whoopi Goldberg was seemingly forced to soften comments she made about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on today’s episode of The View.
In a conversation about Renee Nicole Good, the mother-of-three who was last week tragically shot and killed in her car by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, Whoopi implied that all ICE workers are “violent criminals.”
Whoopi called ICE agents “violent criminals” after one killed Renee Good

Speaking about Renee’s death, which has sparked nationwide protests, Whoopi said there have been “a lot of red flags.” On the flip side, many in Donald Trump’s administration, including Kristi Noem, have defended the ICE agent. They claim he acted in self-defense after the 37-year-old allegedly accelerated her car in his direction.
“Nobody wants this,” Whoopi said on The View of the situation. “This is not what you said they were gonna be doing,” she added, seemingly directing her comment to the Trump administration. “You said you were going after the bad guys. That’s what you said. The violent criminals. And what does it turn out? The violent criminals seem to be in the agency.”
After the next commercial break, however, Whoopi offered a disclaimer to her comments. “Before we go on, before folks gather around and say, ‘Oh, she’s accusing all of the folks in ICE of being criminals,’ that is not what I’m doing,” she clarified.
“Just so I’m clear, it feels sometimes that there is no one watching the henhouse,” Whoopi went on. “Before y’all start blowing it into all kinds of other stuff, just know that it’s nuanced speaking.”
To that, co-host Sunny Hostin joined, pointing to a “lack of accountability” by the administration. “You’ve had nine shootings by ICE agents against various people,” she noted.
“We don’t know the status of the investigation, so that does feel like there’s a lack of accountability and transparency,” she continued.
