Melissa Gilbert is reportedly standing by husband Timothy Busfield in the wake of the allegations against him. The West Wing actor is facing charges related to accusations of sexual assault of a minor. In a newly released statement, Melissa revealed she “stands with and supports her husband.”
Timothy Busfield has handed himself into authorities after going “missing”

Melissa’s rep issued a statement on January 13, via Us Weekly. It reads: “During this period, her focus is on supporting and caring for their very large family, as they navigate this moment. Melissa stands with and supports her husband and will address the public at an appropriate time.”
The rep added that the actress is unable to make any further statements at the moment due to requests by Busfield’s legal team.
Authorities issued a warrant for Timothy’s arrest on January 9. He is reportedly facing two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse. The alleged incidents reportedly took place on the set of the TV show The Cleaning Lady.
It was previously reported that Timothy had disappeared following the issue of the warrant for his arrest. But he has now given himself in to police in New Mexico, his attorney, Larry Stein, told Us Weekly. The lawyer told the publication that Timothy had traveled across the country to speak to authorities and “to confront these false and deeply troubling allegations.” He added: “He is innocent and is determined to clear his name.”
Timothy has denied any wrongdoing. In a video obtained by TMZ, he says: “I’m going to confront these lies. They’re horrible. They’re all lies, and I did not do anything to those little boys. I’m going to fight it. I’m going to fight it with a great team, and I’m going to be exonerated. I know I am because this is all so wrong and all lies.”
