A casual podcast comment turned into a long-running internet myth about Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. Now the former is directly addressing what he calls the “craziest” rumor to come out of it.

After years, Ashton Kutcher finally addressed the myth while talking to People about his physical transformation for The Beauty, an upcoming body-horror thriller created by Ryan Murphy. During the interview, Kutcher was asked about a 2021 appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that unexpectedly fueled speculation about his and Kunis’ showering habits.
At the time, Kunis had spoken candidly about her childhood, sharing that she “didn’t shower very much” while growing up. Then, Ashton Kutcher added humor to the conversation. He said he washes his “armpits and my crotch daily and nothing else ever.” The comments quickly went viral and were widely misinterpreted online.
“It was the craziest thing of all time,” Kutcher now exclaims. “We made a comment at one point, and people were like, ‘Does he stink? Does he smell?” Recalling the moment with his The Beauty co-stars Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope present, he expressed disbelief at how long the assumption stuck.
“There was a comment on a podcast, so long ago… and people are like, ‘They don’t shower.’ I’m like, ‘I shower, I go to the gym, I shower,’ ” he said. Ramos, who stars alongside Kutcher in the series, confirmed the reality with humor, telling, “I can confirm my boy showers.”
Kutcher also discussed the demanding preparation required for The Beauty, where his character, known as The Corporation, is frequently seen shirtless in swimwear. The actor said the role forced him to dramatically change his routine. “Let’s get clear about it, I’ve been sitting in an office chair doing venture capital,” Kutcher said, explaining why he hired trainer Robbie Egan for early-morning workouts. “I went into Speedo mode.”
