D.L. Hughley has no time for Nicki Minaj’s homophobic comments about Don Lemon, and took a swipe at the star for her hypocrisy.
The rapper ranted about the TV journalist on X (formerly Twitter) following his comments in a recent interview with TMZ. Don criticised Nicki for her comments regarding his reporting of a recent ICE protest. In the social media tirade, Nicki used offensive language while taking aim at the host.

The feud began when Nicki criticised Don’s reporting of a recent ICE protest at a church service in Minnesota. According to reports, one of the church’s pastors is an ICE agent. Don is an out and proud gay man, and Nicki, in a recent pro-Trump kick, believes this influenced his reporting.
“DON ‘C*CK SUCKIN’ LEMON IS DISGUSTING,” Nicki wrote on X. “HOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!! HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO ANY OTHER RELIGION. LOCK HIM UP!!!!!”
Don was more dignified in his response, telling TMZ that she was a “homophobic, bigoted, ignorant woman,” and that she was “out of her depth” as a political commentator. He also called her hateful towards African-Americans, claiming she was undocumented and, under the Trump administration’s rules, would be a candidate for deportation.
“Nicki should just sit the f*ck down,” Don continued. “And by the way, isn’t she married to an alleged pedophile?”
“Perhaps that is the reason she is cozying up to the Trump administration.”
Comedian D.L. Hughley came to Don’s defence when asked for an additional comment by TMZ. “It’s funny,” D.L. said. “People hate transgender and gay people more than they do pedophiles. It’s amazing to me”
D.L. was likely referring to Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who has a conviction for first-degree attempted rape of a minor in 1995. He may also be referring to Nicki’s brother. Jelani Maraj. Jelani was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in 2020, after being found guilty of predatory sexual assault on a child younger than 13.
The comic even added roast of the rapper in his final comments. “Damn Don Lemon, Nicki needs to be worried about Chris Hansen,” D.L. laughed, referring to the host of To Catch a Predator.
