Families are complicated, even when they’re rich and famous. Brooklyn Beckham knows this full well, as does his new wife, Nicola Peltz. Unfortunately this couple has been at odds with Brooklyn’s uber-famous parents, soccer star David Beckham, and Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham, ever since 2022. Maybe even before that, who knows.
But in 2026, Brooklyn released a lengthy statement online via his Instagram Stories. And in this statement, he called out his parents’ reportedly toxic ways. He also noted that he and Nicola were breaking free from their pack.
Sadly, many hurt feelings are at play here. So, to help break things down, here’s a timeline of all the little things that eventually added up to one big thing, meaning, Brooklyn’s final breaking-free moment from David and Victoria.
Brooklyn Beckham opened up about wedding drama with Nicola Peltz and Victoria Beckham
As Brooklyn just revealed, in 2022, he and Nicola felt pressured by his parents during their wedding planning journey. As he claimed, his mother was making Nicola’s wedding dress. But then, she decided, at “the eleventh hour” nonetheless, to scrap this idea entirely, leaving Nicola struggling to find a replacement gown ahead of their ceremony. Allegedly.
Likewise, Brooklyn reflected, when he and Nicola were planning out their seating chart, his “mum went so far as to call me ‘evil’ because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands.” Meanwhile, “Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.”
Then, “Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.” Brooklyn further alleged that his parents “were adamant” about his “signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated.” However, his “holdout affected the payday,” and ever since, David and Victoria have “treated” him differently. Also allegedly.
Finally, Brooklyn noted, his mum stole his first dance with Nicola. Instead, Victoria took over the dance floor for the opening bit, where she “danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone,” Brooklyn alleged.
However, Nicola’s substitute wedding day stylist, Leslie Fremar, gave an interview in 2022 that argues against Brooklyn’s first claim. As noted in Vogue, Nicola’s replacement dress, a custom-made Valentino, took a full year to complete. Therefore, Brooklyn’s “eleventh-hour” claim might not be accurate…
Brooklyn and Nicola skipped David Beckham’s 50th birthday party
In May 2025, the Beckhams threw a huge party in London to celebrate David’s 50th birthday. Notably absent, however, were Brooklyn and Nicola. They also missed David’s first bash in Miami, two months before the one in the UK.
As for the UK bash, reports speculated that Brooklyn didn’t want to be in the same room as his old pal, model and DJ Kim Turnbull, and he told his father as much. “But David opted to have Kim there over Nicola.” Again, allegedly.
Regardless, as Brooklyn detailed in his recent Instagram Story, he and his wife had hoped to celebrate David in a private, meaningful manner. Yet, their efforts allegedly failed. As Brooklyn penned, “We waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him,” but “He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.”
And when David eventually agreed to take their visit, he did so under Brooklyn’s alleged condition that his wife, Nicola, was not welcome.

Regrettably, Brooklyn has also stopped speaking with his younger brother, Romeo Beckham, who is now dating Kim. Brooklyn also severed ties with his other siblings, Cruz and Harper. One insider believes there is “no reason” for Brooklyn to have done such a thing. Yet, here we are.
Since David and Victoria’s apparently controlling ways have given Brooklyn “overwhelming anxiety,” and Romeo is dating Kim, Brooklyn’s rumored ex-situationship partner, Brooklyn has decided to leave his family behind in 2026. But his family feels differently. So, after headlines formed, noting that David and Victoria had unfollowed Brooklyn online, Cruz Beckham entered the chat with a big NOPE.
“NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked … as did I,” Cruz quipped.
Brooklyn will likely keep his family members blocked on social media for a while. As he penned on Instagram, “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
What statements have been given by the Beckhams?
David recently appeared on CNBC’s financial program, Squawk Box. Naturally, the topic of Brooklyn’s latest Instagram post came up. In a roundabout way, David broached this narrative, noting that sometimes, kids “make mistakes” online. Meanwhile, while walking around this event before his turn on stage, David would only smile and dodge each journalist’s question regarding this matter.
As for Victoria, in 2025, she appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast. While here, she kept her words to a minimum, only admitting that her family was experiencing “changing dynamics.”
But around this same time, Victoria also appeared on Andy Cohen’s Daddy Diaries podcast. And while here, she stressed, “I’m a girl’s girl. I mean, you’ve got to be a real assh*le for me to not get on with you if you’re a woman.”
Was she talking about Nicola? At this time, Victoria and David have said nothing else regarding their rift with Brooklyn and his wife.
