RHOBH Star Sutton Stracke’s Son Is Choosing a Life Few People Expect

Unlike some kids coming out of college, Sutton Stracke’s son knows exactly what he wants to do with his life.

During an appearance on Radio Andy, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared an update on her older son Philip. The eldest of her three children with ex-husband Christian Stracke, Philip just graduated from The Citadel, a South Carolina military college. Sutton revealed that Philip has chosen his career path: he plans to go to seminary and become a priest.

“It was such a big decision,” she said, admitting that she “cried” when he told her. “You’re in seminary school for six years, and then you become a deacon of the church … Then you join the priesthood.”

Philip Stracke’s seminary decision

As shocking as this big decision might be to his mom, Philip’s definitely thought it through. According to Sutton, he has a “good positive outlook on it.”

“He’s like, ‘If it doesn’t work out, I can leave,'” Sutton continued. “You learn a lot in seminary.”

In addition to Philip, Sutton shares son James, 19, and daughter Porter, 24, with her ex. She and Christian married in 2000, separating in 2016. In RHOBH Season 15, Sutton shared that he had asked her for an annulment in the Catholic Church, despite already being divorced for a decade.

The request for the annulment may have had something to do with Christian’s new girlfriend, who by the way, is a former friend of Sutton’s. Apparently, both of them asked their respective exes for annulments, suggesting that they may be thinking about marriage.

Prior to Philip entering The Citadel, Sutton shared that Philip had told her he wanted to join the army because he’d grown up “too comfortable.”

“You know, he lives a nice life,” she said. “I said, ‘Oh, well, I’ll make you uncomfortable then.’ I sent him to Georgia when it was gonna be 105 degrees with 100 percent humidity. I made him get a job. He had to be there at 5:30 in the morning to deliver vending machine Cokes and stuff.”

“A month later, when I picked him up, he wanted to go to college,” she laughed.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is streaming on Peacock.
