There’s been an update in the case of Love Island USA alum Cashel Barnett. The former reality star got locked up last year after his ex-girlfriend accused him of strangling and raping her in front of their one-year-old daughter.

Cashel was charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault, and domestic violence in the presence of a child. Now, it looks like he’s reached a plea deal.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Cashel reached a deal and agreed to plead guilty to one count of third-degree felony aggravated assault and one count of third-degree felony domestic violence in the presence of a child.

The prosecutors want him to serve a year in jail, followed by probation upon release. He has a court hearing scheduled for March 16, where he’ll learn his fate. He’s already been behind bars since May 2025, when his ex -girlfriend accused him of attacking her.

In her report, she said that it all started when she asked Cashel to get a job. Allegedly, he tried to “punish” her by withholding sex for weeks. When she made a sexual pass at him, he reportedly lashed out. The ex received a protective order against Cashel, so regardless of what happens next, he has been ordered not to contact her.

Love Island fans will remember Cashel from Season 1 of Love Island USA. He also returned to TV in 2022 for the short-lived series, The Challenge: USA. He didn’t last long on either show.
