Margot Robbie made a striking impression at the Los Angeles premiere of “Wuthering Heights,” turning heads as she wore Elizabeth Taylor’s legendary Cartier necklace. The film’s press tour only kicked off days ago, and Robbie is already showcasing her eclectic fashion sense. Her latest standout moment sees her pairing a Schiaparelli gown with the historic Elizabeth Taylor necklace.
Margot Robbie brings back Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic Cartier necklace for ‘Wuthering Heights’ premiere
Margot Robbie has long embraced method dressing for major appearances, as clearly seen throughout the “Barbie” press tour in 2023. The “Wuthering Heights” press tour was also expected to be a spectacle, and so far, that has clearly been the case. For the film’s LA premiere on January 28, she borrowed the Taj Mahal necklace from Elizabeth Taylor’s stunning collection.
Small ruby stones line the diamond at the center of the heart-shaped pendant. The diamond’s surface bears an inscription in Parsee, which reads, “Love is Everlasting.” Robbie wore it on a gold and ruby Cartier chain. Perfectly in step with the period romance drama, the Taj Mahal necklace is a storied piece that has symbolized love for many couples across centuries.
The first woman to receive the heart-shaped vintage diamond was Nur Jahan, Mughal emperor Shah Jahangir’s wife. Their son, Shah Jahan, inherited it and gifted it to his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal, a monument that symbolises Shah Jahan’s love for Mumtaz Mahal, inspired the name of this necklace. In 1972, Richard Burton presented it to his own adored wife, Elizabeth Taylor, on her 40th birthday. The actress was a huge fan of collecting fine jewellery during her lifetime.
Styled by Andrew Mukamal, the “I, Tonya” star paired the necklace with custom 38-carat diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz. The silhouette of her black-and-red gown, meanwhile, echoed a design Schiaparelli debuted at its Spring/Summer 2026 Haute Couture show in Paris.
