Lady Gaga Levels up in Alexander McQueen With Birdcage-Inspired Headpiece

Lady Gaga delivered one of the most visually striking moments of the 2026 Grammy Awards during her live performance at the ceremony in Los Angeles. The singer and songwriter took the stage to perform “Abracadabra,” a track from her 2025 album Mayhem. To make her performance even more striking and dramatic, she wore an archival look by Alexander McQueen that drew directly from the late designer’s Fall / Winter 2009 “Horn of Plenty” collection.

The performance took place inside L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena, where Lady Gaga appeared in a black and red ensemble. It blended theatrical fashion with sharp tailoring. The look featured a feathered bolero jacket with exaggerated, padded shoulders and a high, regal collar. Underneath, she wore a fitted black pencil skirt designed with sculpted pockets trimmed in visible zippers. This added structure and edge to the silhouette. The singer completed the outfit with tall black boots finished with contrasting red cap toes.

However, a birdcage-inspired headpiece crafted from woven wicker by British milliner Philip Treacy became the most dramatic element of the look. It extended upward and outward from her head, splitting open at the front to frame her face while reinforcing the theatrical tone of the performance. According to footage shared from the event, Gaga later removed the headpiece after the performance concluded.

As reported by Harper’s Bazaar, the “Horn of Plenty” collection originally explored contrasts between excess, glamour, and discarded materials. Nicola Formichetti styled Gaga’s Grammys 2026 look, continuing his long-standing collaboration with the musician on some of her most iconic fashion moments.

Additionally, clips of the performance were shared on Instagram, confirming the archival look and spotlighting the headpiece. The appearance reinforced Gaga’s continued use of fashion as performance, blending music, design, and visual storytelling into a single moment on one of the biggest stages.
