Nancy Guthrie’s family is making an emotional plea to anyone who knows where she is. Her daughter, Today host Savannah Guthrie, and her sister, Annie, and brother, Cameron, released a video on Wednesday discussing what their mother means to them.
In an emotional statement, Savannah said that their mom is their heart and their home. She says that Nancy’s heart and health are fragile, with her mom needing her medication to survive. Savannah also addressed the rumors of a ransom note.
Savannah Guthrie and her family want proof of life after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance
There is one key element that must happen before Nancy’s family can potentially negotiate with those who might have taken her. Savannah addressed the ransom note reported by TMZ this week. “We are ready to talk,” she said about the message. The ransom note allegedly demands millions of dollars in Bitcoin. It’s been sent to the Pima County Sheriff’s office.
Being an experienced journalist, though, Savannah is aware of how easily voices and images can be manipulated. As such, she added, “We need to know without a doubt that she’s alive and that you have her.” She went on to say they want to hear from them while urging them to reach out.
It has been a roller coaster of emotions for the Guthrie family over the past few days. Nancy was reported missing from her home in Arizona on Sunday. The following day, Sheriff Chris Nanos said they’re treating her disappearance as a crime. There were reports of blood found at Nancy’s home, though it’s unclear whose it is. Meanwhile, yesterday the Sheriff said that he believes Nancy is alive.
Nancy, who is 84 and lives alone, was absent from her usual church service on Sunday, setting off red flags. Savannah will not be going to Italy to host the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in light of this.
