Bad Bunny made history during his Super Bowl Halftime Show last night. The Puerto Rican artist became the first in history to perform the segment entirely in Spanish, and the powerful performance was packed with political messages, celebrity cameos, and even a real wedding.
But beyond that, fans have been particularly keen to figure out whether the child featured in the 13-minute segment is Liam Ramos. He was detained last month by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
A viral claim about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show has been debunked
In case you missed it (how!?), during Bad Bunny’s historic performance, he paused to give his Grammy to a young boy. He won the award last week for his album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.
Shortly after the moment, a post on social media went viral. It claimed the recipient in the Halftime Show was Liam Ramos. Photos of the five-year-old boy made headlines in January during an ICE raid.
Now, BBC Verify has debunked the claim and revealed the young boy is actually a child actor. A look at Instagram confirms this, as the actor, Lincoln Fox, has posted about the special moment.
“An emotional, unforgettable day being cast as the young Benito — a symbolic moment where the future hands the past a Grammy,” the young actor’s post said. “A reminder that dreams come true and that it’s never too early to dream big.”
The caption then referenced the viral claim. “Sending love to Liam Ramos. We all deserve peace and love in America, a country built by and home to so many hard-working immigrants,” it read.
“You and Big Benito made me cry,” someone said in the comments. “Congratulations, sweet boy. I see amazing things in your future.”
“You did so well on such a big stage and a historic moment. Big hugs,” added another.
