America’s Next Top Model’s Nigel Barker Shares Memories Ahead of Netflix Doc

Nigel Barker is getting nostalgic as the premiere for Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model approaches. The iconic America’s Next Top Model photographer from the show is sharing memories of his favorite shoots and behind-the-scenes moments from his time on the show ahead of the new documentary premiere next week.

Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model will stream on Netflix

The new ANTM docuseries premieres on Netflix this February and features the OG ANTM gang taking a deep look at what went into the show and how it became such a global phenomenon. And to usher in the memories, Nigel is sharing throwbacks to some of his memorable shoots from 2004-2011.

The photographer posted snaps from New York, New Zealand, Brazil, Rome, and more on his social media with personal anecdotes. And it looks like the whole gang is getting sentimental.

On a carousel of pics from Thailand, Nigel wrote, “Cycle 6 of Top Model, we traveled to Thailand, and I shot the girls for ElleGirl Magazine wearing swimsuits by OP. I actually got repetitively electrocuted by my camera because it was pretty stormy and the waves were crashing. Thailand was definitely one of my favorite Top Model destinations. Scroll all the way to check out a shot of Jay I took while hanging out! He sets the bar high!”

The photo in question was of fellow ANTM panelist Jay Manuel wearing a mermaid tail. Jay commented on the post writing, “LMAOOOOOO —this mermaid tail. I’ll never live this down.”

The documentary is promising to give an in-depth look at the popular reality modeling competition. Criticisms have been raised about it being toxic for contestants, promoting unhealthy lifestyle choices, not paying contestants enough, and more. In the documentary, host Tyra Banks even admits that they may have gone too far

The show remains iconic, though.

This is just one of two documentaries about ANTM. Another show is coming out in March about contestant Lisa D’Amato’s experiences. According to the former winner, her ANTM exposé will focus on the psychological warfare behind the camera.

Reality Check: America’s Next Top Model premieres in February 16 on Netflix.
