Taking to her Instagram Story on February 16, Apple shared a “quick little message” in response to a social media rumor that she was expelled from school for bullying.

“Hi! I didn’t wanna respond, but this narrative is completely false and has gotten so out of hand,” the Vanderbilt University student wrote.

“I have never been expelled from any school,” the 21-year-old continued. “Especially not for bullying anyone.”

“I completely understand ppl not liking me and that is okay!” Apple added of the rumor. “The internet is a place where ppl can share their opinions. But this rumor is completely untrue, I am not that type of person, and anyone who is close to me knows that.”

Previously, Apple was accused of “mean girl” behavior. In one social media video, via Daily Mail, she appeared to roll her eyes after crashing an impromptu photo shoot during Le Bal des Debutantes in Paris in December 2024.

In response, a source allegedly close to Gwyneth told the outlet that Apple is “really a total girls’ girl.”

“[Apple] would never mean to take the spotlight from anyone,” the insider said. “[To] characterize her as a mean girl is very untrue.”

Shortly afterwards, the debutante in the video also came to Apple’s defense. Aliénor Loppin de Montmort told PEOPLE at the time that Apple is “the nicest girl ever.”

“She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting,” Aliénor added of the backlash.
