When one cast trip ends, another one begins. In Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 11, “What Happens In Jamaica Stays in Jamaica,” the annual couples trip commenced with Toya and Dr. Eugene now at the helm.

As we learned in last week’s episode, this isn’t the only tradition Toya is taking over. She’s also the new chairwoman of the annual Med Gala, and not everyone is on board with all of her newfound power.

Immediately after returning home from their girls trip to Florida, the ladies of Married to Medicine packed their bags once more for the annual couples trip. They’re headed to Jamaica, Toya and Eugene are in charge, and some of the ladies are extremely concerned. Between the ongoing feuds Toya has with half of the cast and her new responsibilities with the Med Gala, is she really the right person to be leading this trip?

On top of being a nurse, a scrubs designer, and a former Basketball Wives star, Angel is also an actress. Did anyone else know that? This episode kicked off with the M2M newbie bringing the ladies to a premiere for a movie she starred in called Sin. We have a feeling this might have been the one and only time anyone ever watched this movie in a theater.

Before the screening, Dr. Simone revealed to the group that she and Cecil would not be responsible for planning the annual couples trip. They’re back on the brink of a divorce, so Simone knows they have no business leading the trip as they’ve done in years past.

“The couples trips are meant to share experiences within the group to help strengthen your own relationship,” Simone explained in her confessional.

“Since Cecil and I are in a struggle in our marriage, we just want to pass the baton off to somebody else who has the energy to pour into other couples,” she added.

Simone explained that Toya and Eugene seemed like the next best candidates to lead the couples trip. Meanwhile, Toya was already busy getting things planned. She used ChatGPT to determine the location of their next trip. AI told her to take the ladies to Jamaica.

Simone’s decision to put Toya and Eugene in charge of the annual couples trip was not well-received. Immediately after hearing the news, Mimi started sharing her concerns. She felt like the person leading the trip should act like a “glue” to the friend group. Toya is many things, but she is not that.

“It makes me feel a little unsure about the time we’re going to have,” Mimi explained in the movie theatre lobby.

Angel jumped in, still upset about the whole Bernard situation that happened at the Physicians Family Reunion a few episodes ago. She’s holding onto that storyline for dear life and said she also felt nervous that Toya would bring her “crazy negative energy” to the trip. Still, everyone booked their flights and headed down to Jamaica.

Eugene set a few rules for the couples trip

Toya and Mimi weren’t alone in their concerns. After all of these seasons, everyone in this group knows that things get chaotic during these trips. It’s just the way things are.

With that in mind, Eugene tried to kick off the trip with some rules. He called it the Pledge of Friendship and compared it to the Pledge of Allegiance. He said he wanted to read the pledge to “set the tone” for the trip, all before anyone could even get to their hotel rooms. Everyone, put your hand over your heart.

“We, the friends and couples embarking on this special trip, pledge to foster an atmosphere of kindness, respect, and camaraderie,” Eugene read from his Notes App.

The group seemed on board with that. Where he lost them was when he started talking about the penalties for breaking the pledge.

“Any instances of pettiness, meanness, or disruptive behavior will be met with consequences of having to go to your room for a cool-off period,” Eugene added.

We get where he’s coming from, but obviously, it’s not realistic. Without a little bit of pettiness, meanness, or disruptive behavior, what are they supposed to do on the trip? Sit around and stare at each other? This isn’t The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!

Dr. Heavenly and Toya clashed over the Med Gala

The next day, after a wild night out at the club, Toya and Dr. Heavenly were the first two people to break the Pledge of Friendship. Who could have predicted that? It all happened as the ladies ventured off to a “medical mission” put on by King’s cousin.

In the bus ride to the mission, Dr. Jackie gave Brandi the lowdown on the annual Med Gala and how Toya became involved with it. In typical Jackie fashion, she tried to sugarcoat the real reason why Toya is leading the charge this year.

“We have had two previous years of Med Gala,” Jackie explained. “This year, we felt like Toya would make a great chairperson for Med Gala 3.”

“We didn’t think that,” Heavenly interjected. “We thought that it would teach her a lesson!”

Everything went downhill from there. Just like we saw last week at Jackie’s photoshoot, Heavenly will not let go of how “difficult” Toya was during the previous galas. She’s still hung up over the fact that Toya and Eugene donated cases of wine instead of giving cash.

As the bus rolled up at the community center, where a bunch of underprivileged children were waiting for them, Heavenly kept pressing Toya. Eugene chimed in. It was messy, and we think they all violated the pledge.

“Ya’ll would do better by apologizing and saying, ‘You know what we was f*cking wrong,’” Heavenly shouted across the bus,

Eugene replied, “We’re never going to apologize for that.”

A medical mission brought the group together

At first, it seemed extremely unlikely that Heavenly and Toya would be able to safely exit this bus and proceed with the medical mission. The tension got even worse when Damon tried to stop the fight and lead the group in prayer.

Miraculously, they settled things down. Perhaps it’s because they heard the innocent laughter of Jamaican children right outside the bus. Either way, Toya wound up leading them in a prayer, and they walked into the community center like nothing ever happened.

When they got inside, they were greeted by King’s cousin. The two of them helped organize the event, where they passed out sanitary products and other essentials to local children experiencing poverty. It’s a reminder that there’s more to Jamaica than the fancy resorts.

Every single cast member pitched in to make this event a success. Jackie talked about girl power. Steve ran football drills with some of the kids. Heavenly accidentally cussed in front of the children. It was all very heartwarming.

As messy as the M2M ladies can get, you can always count on seeing them coming together for a good cause. They manage to do it at least once a season, and we love to see it. Next week, however, it looks like they’re getting back to their regularly scheduled shenanigans.

Married to Medicine airs on Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo. You can stream it the next day on Peacock.
