Timothée Chalamet Recalls a ‘Punk’ Actor Taunting His Acting Skills

Timothée Chalamet‘s latest revelation offers a refreshing glimpse into the cutthroat world of acting. During a recent interview, Chalamet recalled receiving a scathing critique from a punk actor. The Dune star’s anecdote sheds light on the harsh realities of the industry where talent is constantly under the microscope.

Timothée Chalamet reveals how an actor called out his acting skills

Timothée Chalamet has opened up about the time an actor’s blunt feedback left him questioning his craft.

The Call Me by Your Name star recently shared his career insights at the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication. The town hall event, produced by Variety and CNN, put him in conversation with actor and UT alum Matthew McConaughey and students buzzing with questions.

During the conversation, Chalamet recalled a piece of advice that left him to sort the constructive criticism from questionable counsel.

Recalling the incident, the 30-year-old actor shared, “I always said, ‘Beware of the people in life that get more of the advice they give you than you get at the advice.’ They’re thrilled by the act of giving you advice. All of a sudden, you can’t listen to what they’re saying anymore because they’re flexing on you so hard.”

Chalamet added, “I had an actor do that to me once. No names, but the guy was a punk. He asked me what conservatory I had gone to, and I said I didn’t go to an acting conservatory. And he said, ‘Well, you haven’t trained as an actor then.’ And we were all part of an ensemble.”

However, Timothée Chalamet’s experience with Matthew McConaughey was a breath of fresh air, especially compared to the brutal feedback he got from that actor. Chalamet discovered an unlikely mentor in Interstellar co-star McConaughey, with whom he shares a profound connection.

“I just can’t thank you enough for being warm to me at that time, when you had no reason to be warm to me. It just changed my life, man,” Chalamet shared. McConaughey’s response was equally sweet as he replied, “You were pretty easy to be warm to.”
