Nancy Guthrie Sheriff Admits Withholding Information From the Public

Not everyone is in the loop regarding the Nancy Guthrie investigation. That’s the latest revelation from Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who admits that the public doesn’t know all the details about the case. Nancy has been missing for over a month, with Chris’s team and the FBI among the many tasked with trying to track down Savannah Guthrie’s mother and the alleged kidnapper.

A suspect description was revealed weeks ago, but there’s been no one in custody. Chris says they are going through plenty of leads in the hopes of cracking this case.

Sharing certain information would be “irresponsible”

There is a good reason why police are withholding some information from the public regarding this matter. Speaking with the Today Show, Chris explains that solving a case of this magnitude “takes time.” He also adds that giving out every detail publicly would be “neglectful, irresponsible as a police, law enforcement leader.”

What Chris would share is that they have a lot more details about this case, while he says, “investigators are definitely closer” to finding a suspect. A former FBI agent recently shared his optimism about this matter. Greg Rogers said that he doesn’t believe the case has gone cold.

Surveillance video around Nancy’s home shortly before she went missing was released earlier this year. It shows a masked man reportedly tampering with the doorbell camera. DNA evidence was reportedly found at the scene. The FBI claims the genetic material is from more than one person. That makes it tricky to analyze.

The motive behind Nancy’s alleged kidnapping remains unclear. Some wonder whether it’s purely for money or some form of revenge. Numerous ransom notes have been sent to news agencies since Nancy went missing.

For her part, Savannah has offered a $1 million reward for anyone with details on this case. There’s a belief that this could lead to a break in this case.
