The Ladies of London are back … sort of! The iconic franchise has been rebooted with an entirely new cast living it up in the UK’s capital city. Lady Emma Thynn, Martha Sitwell, Mark-Francis Vandelli, Lottie Kane, Missè Beqiri, Kimi Murdoch, Myka Meier, Margo Stilley, and Dara Huang make up the cast of Ladies of London: The New Reign, and viewers meet them all in the first episode. Here’s exactly what went down in Ladies of London Season 4, Episode 1: “The New Reign.”

What happened in Ladies of London Season 4, Episode 1?

Beyond introductions to the new cast members, the first few minutes of Episode 1 teased an iconic season ahead. This included tears, tantrums, and the line: “But you are a psychotic bitch.” And, it all kicked off with a summer soiree hosted by the Man of London, Mark-Francis. The former Made in Chelsea star brought the ladies together for a gathering … and a hefty dose of gossip was dished out (more on that in a moment).

Mark-Francis set the scene for the season

Mark-Francis opened Season 1 of Ladies of London: The New Reign with a “marvelous” garden party. Introducing himself as “not a socialite” but a “social animal,” he alluded to what viewers can expect from him as the episodes unfold. “Scandal is fun,” he said.

One by one, the Ladies of London arrived at Mark-Francis’ party, but Emma and Dara were noticeably absent due to other commitments. While she wasn’t in attendance, Dara’s ears must have been burning, because it wasn’t long before Martha and Margo spilled some piping hot tea about her … much to Myka’s distaste.

“She’s a madame”

Martha and Margo revealed a rumor they heard that architect Dara is actually a madame. Yep, as in, a brothel-owning madame. Dara wasn’t at Mark-Francis’ party to defend herself, but fellow American Myka jumped in to squash the allegation, which Missè branded “soul-destroying.”

The ladies continued to mull over the madame allegation for the rest of the episode, and later, in a one-on-one, Martha confessed to Missè that if she hears a rumor, she has no trouble passing it on. Hence, the madame storyline came to be.

Meanwhile, Myka sat down with Dara to reveal what the other ladies had been saying about her, but she seemed entirely nonplussed about it. “This is like so beneath me,” she said. “I don’t care.” Maybe people thinking you’re a madame is a flex these days?

Outside of Mark-Francis’ garden party, viewers didn’t see much of Lottie in Episode 1. But she made sure her few moments were scene-stealing enough. Within minutes of the season opening, the fashion designer revealed she is expecting her first child with husband Joshua Kane.

The Mariah Carey of magpies

If you thought the Ladies of London pets would be all pomeranians and poodles, think again. Martha introduced viewers, and friend Margo, to her “flatmate” … a live-in magpie. Affectionately named Hecate, Martha dotes on her pet magpie, who even has her very own avery at the socialite’s cozy London home. Describing Hecate as “fabulous and feral,” Martha says she is “such a diva” and even likened her to pop icon Mariah Carey.

Hecate isn’t the only surprising animal in Ladies of London Season 4, Episode 1. Viewers also saw Emma at her Longleat Estate home … which features its very own safari park. While chatting about how she once dreamed of a life in glitzy Los Angeles, the Marchioness of Bath gave a rhino a mudbath.

Dara thinks Myka is “low-class”

Although Myka spent most of Mark-Francis’ party (and, to be honest, the entire episode) celebrating her decades-long friendship with Dara, who she called her “partner in crime,” all might not be what it seems between the pair. Missè revealed to Lottie and Mark-Francis that Dara privately expressed her real feelings about her so-called bestie.

“Myka is so nice, but Dara said she is embarrassed by her,” model Missè said. “She was shady about Myka,” she continued, listing off a string of unfavorable descriptions Dara used against her, which included “tacky” and “low-class.”

“It was a lot of negative stuff about her,” Missè admitted of what Dara said. “And that’s her friend of 20 years.” Despite being warned by Lottie and Mark-Francis not to get involved in the pair’s friendship, in the last few moments of Episode 1, viewers saw Missè confronting Dara for putting her in a “really sh*tty situation” with Myka.

Roll on Episode 2!
