Donald Trump to Visit These US States to Talk About Economic Crisis

President Donald Trump heads to Ohio and Kentucky on March 11 with the Iran war casting a long shadow over his economic message. The visit comes as military action abroad threatens to undermine the affordability narrative his administration has been pushing ahead of the midterms.

Donald Trump will visit Ohio and Kentucky

Donald Trump’s Ohio and Kentucky trip will begin in Cincinnati with a tour of Thermo Fisher Scientific, where the president plans to highlight prescription drug pricing initiatives. However, the Iran war has scrambled his talking points. Gas prices are surging, stocks have slipped from record highs, and, reportedly, employers cut 92,000 jobs in February.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump will be “talking about the economy, which is, of course, the utmost importance to him.” Yet polls show Americans growing increasingly wary of his economic handling, even before the war with Iran began.

None of that has stopped Trump from insisting the country is booming and blaming Democrats for any turbulence. “They’re the one that caused the problem,” he told House Republicans in Florida. But we’re really bringing down prices big.” The Iran war has directly undercut Donald Trump’s past bragging points. The low gas prices he once celebrated are now climbing as the U.S. and Israel launched military action against Iran. This is creating economic uncertainty for voters already nervous about rising costs.

After Cincinnati, Trump will visit a logistics facility in Hebron, Kentucky. It is part of the district held by Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican who has openly opposed the president. The swing marks the first time this primary cycle that Trump has campaigned against a GOP incumbent, endorsing retired Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein in the May 19 primary.

The Iran war now sits at the center of this Republican rift. While Trump tries to sell economic stability, Massie argues the conflict proves otherwise. The visit will test whether the President of the US can both punish a party detractor and convince Ohio and Kentucky voters that his policies can steady an economy facing shock waves from the Iran war (via Wral News).
