Kathie Lee Gifford made a series of divisive comments about the LGBTQ+ community on a recent podcast interview with conservative influencer Tomi Lahren.
The pair’s discussion about the community initially began when discussing Shia LaBeouf’s recent arrests for assault. In an interview following his arrest, Shia admitted he is afraid of “big gay people,” and he isn’t afraid to be called homophobic. In response, Kathie discussed how she believes Christians should approach LGBTQ+ people.

“The scriptures do have something to say about it, you can look that up, too,” Kathie said about Shia.
Tomi then asked Kathie how a person can reconcile Christianity with being “big into LGBTQ” issues. She responded, “That one is a four-letter word, and it’s called L-O-V-E, love.”
The former TV host went on to claim she has more gay friends than straight ones. However, her following comments were more unsavory towards the community. She criticized the LGBTQ+ acronym, which she said was too long and confusing for her,
“I don’t even know how many letters there are now. They’ve really got to stop with that,” Kathie said. “We know what you mean, you know?”
“I’m not telling anybody how to live their life. I never have. I just know what Jesus said: Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Love God first.”
The former popular television host went on to say that God had informed her how she would treat others in life. “‘Kathie, you will be too busy loving people that you disagree with to judge them,” she claimed God told her. Within the context of the conversation, it seems like the people she disagrees with are the LGBTQ+ community. What she disagreed with them about, however, wasn’t made clear.
“I don’t judge anybody. That’s God’s business,” she concluded, before telling Tomi to “Google it” when prompted about what the scriptures say.
