A wild backstage story involving Adam Sandler and a famous rock legend is making the rounds again. During a past event, the comedian ended up in a very unexpected moment with a member of Kiss.
Kiss singer recalls giving ‘tongue’ treatment to Adam Sandler
Gene Simmons recently looked back at a strange and funny moment he once shared with Adam Sandler during a charity jam session. The event brought several musicians together onstage to play. Sandler, known for being a big rock fan, joined the group with a guitar. Simmons said the odd moment happened while photographers were snapping pictures of them. Cameras were rolling when the bassist decided to stir things up for laughs.
During an interview with actor Adam Lupis, Simmons explained that he wanted to create a shock gag for the photo. He leaned in toward Sandler and stuck out his famous tongue, bringing it very close to the actor’s face. “Of course, I wanted to turn Adam into my b***h. So I stuck my tongue almost, almost down his throat,” Simmons said.
Sandler had also talked about the moment. During a 2019 appearance on Conan with host Conan O’Brien, he said the wild moment took place at a holiday party. Sandler remembered playing guitar when Simmons suddenly walked over and unleashed his legendary tongue stunt. The actor joked that Simmons came straight at him and landed a couple of playful licks, and he just rolled with it. “I think he gave me a couple of licks and I took it like a man,” the actor said.
The story lines up perfectly with Simmons’ larger-than-life rock image. As the bassist and co-founder of Kiss, he built a reputation for theatrical performances. The band’s black-and-white face paint, explosive stage shows, and Simmons’ famously long tongue became signature elements during their rise in the 1970s rock scene.
