Livvy Dunne’s “Baywatch” casting announcement didn’t go as planned. Recently, the 23-year-old joined the reboot of the iconic lifeguard action drama cast. While several media outlets posted the news on social media, one of them reportedly made a major error.
The media outlet misspelled Dunne’s surname, which grabbed the former gymnast’s attention. For those unversed, “Baywatch” was a popular series that ran from 1989 to 2001 for 11 seasons.
Livvy Dunne’s name reportedly misspelled in ‘Baywatch’ casting post, takes quick action
Livvy Dunne recently caught attention with her “Baywatch” casting news. The athlete has been announced as one of the actors to feature in the 2026 revival of the famous series. While the announcement made headlines, one post didn’t go as expected.
Variety shared the cast update on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle. They wrote, “’Baywatch’ Reboot Casts Athlete and Social Media Star Livvy Dunn in a Recurring Role.” As the surname was misspelled, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model was quick to take action.
She commented, “Dunne*.” Her response directed internet users’ attention towards the post. While one fan comforted her not to take the mistake seriously, others celebrated her joining the project.
Aside from Dunne, the reboot will also star other influencers, including Noah Beck, Brooks Nader, and Shay Mitchell. Furthermore, Hassie Harrison, Stephen Amell, Jessica Belkin, and Thaddeus LaGrone would also appear in the series’s first season, consisting of 12 episodes.
Meanwhile, the athlete, who will make her professional acting debut, will play a character named Grace. According to Deadline, the former Louisiana State University gymnast took acting lessons a while ago. She wanted to pursue a career in the TV and film industry.
“Baywatch” 2.0 is set to begin airing on Fox this year. This time, the story will revolve around Hobie (played by Amell), who is considered a wild child. He is a Baywatch Captain, following the path that his legendary father, Mitch, has set. Things get twisted when Hobie’s daughter, Charlie (played by Belkin), shows up.
