Hota Kotb’s wellness retreat is reportedly in hot water with locals, after they perceived the March 13-15 event as gesture of bad taste.
The NBC host’s Joy 101 retreat took place earlier this month in Scottsdale, Arizona. The event invited fans and friends to recharge and provided motivational talks. However, many critics of the retreat have pointed out its proximity to the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, as her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, is a fellow NBC host.
Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy remains missing
“It feels tone-deaf,” one insider told writer Rob Shuter for his Substack report. “Arizona is where all of this is happening — and she’s hosting a wellness retreat there.”
An Instagram post from Hoda’s brand shared information about the event on March 18, three days after the March 13-15 retreat ended. “This right here is exactly why we do it!! ?,” the page captioned a video sharing clips from the retreat. “Take a peek at the first of many incredible weekends with the @joy101 family for our Spring Retreat in Arizona. Heartfelt conversations, life-changing workshops, a surprise performance from @walkerhayes, and more joy than we knew what to do with!”
Savannah’s mother Nancy was last seen arriving at her Tucson, Arizona on January 31. The 84-year-old’s disappearance is being treated as an abduction. Savannah has been absent from her hosting duties since February 2, the day after her mother was reported missing.
Last month, the FBI released footage from Nancy’s Ring doorbell depicting a masked figure on the night of her disappearance. The surveillance camera footage was initially missing after the doorbell was ripped out, but the bureau later recovered the video.
The released clip depicts a man with his face covered, approaching Nancy’s front door. The person then checks the doorbell before deciding to pick some vegetation from the ground to cover the camera lens. So far, no arrests have been made in relation to the kidnapping.
