Ex-Prince Andrew’s Arrest Wasn’t a Surprise To King Charles — Ex-Butler

Ex-Prince Andrew’s arrest became the center of a new claim from former royal butler Grant Harrold, who said the palace likely saw the crisis coming before police moved in. In a recent QNA video, Harrold reflected on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s February 2026 arrest and suggested King Charles III had enough warning signs to act early. The claim matched the sharp royal fallout that followed the police move.

Andrew was arrested on February 19, 2026, his 66th birthday, at his Norfolk home on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was questioned at Aylsham police station and released under investigation later that day. The police also searched properties linked to him in Norfolk and Windsor. Meanwhile, Charles publicly backed due process instead of shielding his younger brother.

King Charles stripped Ex-Prince Andrew’s titles because he saw arrest coming, says ex-butler

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest was discussed 12 minutes into the “Honesty Box” video. Grant Harrold described the moment as historic and deeply unusual for the monarchy. He said, “When I saw him getting arrested, it was a shock,” before adding that he believed Charles had already understood the direction of events. Harrold then said, “I think that’s why the King had removed the titles and everything, because I think the King knew what was coming.”

He went further by explaining why he believed the palace had advanced awareness. Harrold said the household had “the contacts.” He added, “They work with the government, they work with the police.” He also said they were “gonna be aware, 100%, of what’s coming.” That remained Harrold’s personal interpretation. However, it lined up with the speed of the royal response once Andrew’s arrest became public and the family moved to create distance.

King Charles’s own public statements stayed formal and brief. He expressed “deep concern” and said, “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.” He also pledged “full and wholehearted support and co-operation” with authorities. Later that same day, the monarch still appeared at Tolu Coker’s London Fashion Week show in London. He greeted onlookers and took his front-row seat. So, while Harrold suggested the King saw the arrest coming, he also kept the focus on process, not family defense.
